Review: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again

So what'd you think of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again?

It was a pretty good book.  There was some good humor in it.

Who are the main characters?

The main characters are Mum, Dad, Lucy, Jem, and Little Harry.  They're a family.  Lucy has this gloomy aspect about her.  She wears black and she painted her room black and has a skull lamp and spends most of her time sulking.  Jem is the middle brother.  He helps his dad fix the van.  Little Harry is a toddler but every time he says something it tends to be true.  Then there's Dad who's kind of a lunatic.  In the second chapter he tries to fix all the kids' room and ruins everything.  For example, he puts up flower wallpaper over Lucy's black walls and accidentally sets her lamp on fire and it starts emitting toxic fumes.  Mum is a lot smarter than Dad and knows how to handle him.

So what's the basic story?

It's about the adventures of the family that travels in a magical camping van that is trying to repair itself.

Is there a villain?

Definitely, yes.   But I'm not going to say what it is.  They do manage to get away from it though.

What age group do you think would most enjoy this book?

Probably six to nine year olds.

On a scale of 1-10, what does it rate?

Probably a 7.
